Tallow is the rendered fat from cattle and has been used for centuries by our ancestors in a nose-to-tail fashion for things like skin balm, medicinal ointments, soaps, natural sunscreen and other healing aides. Tallow is amazing for many reasons, but our favorite is that it’s lipid profile matches extremely well with human skin. Essentially, this means that the fats in tallow are similar to the fats that make up human skin and sebum, the oily, waxy substance secreted by our skin cells to help protect it. The cells in a human body are made up mostly of fats, so without them, are cells become dehydrated in a way. Providing skin with external sources of healthy fats is one way to help combat issues like dry skin, aging, discoloration and other signs of cell damage. Tallow is healing for many reasons, but it’s high content of CLA, essential fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins is what makes it so incredible for use in beauty care products.
Yes, our beauty balm is crafted to work on all skin types. Imbalances in the skin often arise from internal nutrient deficiencies, as well as harsh, drying chemicals and soaps. Yes, even oily skin is affected. Our skin cells are made up of mostly fats, so when we strip away our natural oils they counteract the effects by producing an excess, leading to oily skin. Our formulas naturally bring out your skin’s perfect health by supplying your cells with the fats, oils and antioxidants they need to repair and rejuvenate themselves. In this way, the balm adapts to your skin’s unique needs.
While our products are made of completely natural, safe and non-toxic ingredients, some of the essential oils used in them could be potentially irritating to delicate baby skin. We suggest using only our unscented and sensitive-skin products on children and babies. If at any time your child experiences a reaction or sensitivity, you should immediately discontinue use.
While some people see immediate changes in their skin, others can take up to two or three weeks. Most of us have scrubbed, cleaned, peeled and poked at our faces for years, and it may take a while for your skin to naturally detox from harsher, synthetic chemicals and ingredients. Occasionally, this might mean a few breakouts or odd conditions pop up. Don’t worry. They will clear up as your skin balances out and gets used to the gentler, more balanced products. If after two weeks your skin has not adjusted, feel free to contact us for more personal help!
Yes, absolutely. Sometimes your skin may need to go through a little “detox” as it rebalances its pH and gets used to a new regiment. We suggest waiting two weeks for skin to balance out. During that time, make sure you are fueling your cells with lots of water, fresh foods and rest. As your body works hard to clear out old junk, it will need all the support it can get.
Our products do not contain any gluten ingredients and are made in a gluten-free environment. However, we are not Certified Gluten Free by a third-party agency.
Our products are not animal-product free because they contain tallow from grass-fed cows. However, we believe fully in following a nose-to-tail approach, similar to what our ancestors and tribal nations have been doing for thousands of years and only source from companies that can provide sustainable farming and humane-slaughter practices.
